GA Russell Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I found the following advertised at digg.com. I have dial-up service at present, so I cannot consider trying it. But as I do not have cable TV and do not ever expect to, this is something that, if legitimate, I can see myself taking advantage of when the day comes that I have broadband service. The website is: http://www.your-free-satellite.com/ What do you think? Do you think that it is illegal and will soon be shut down by the government? Quote
Tom 1960 Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I have broadband GA, but I'm alittle hesitant to download the program. I'm definitely curious as to how things work out. No way is this legit. Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 This Discussion Board thread has the scoop. I'd stay away. Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 And interestingly enough, that "Affiliates" link says that if you link to his site, you'll get a whopping $40 out of every $67 sale. Does that sound legit? What company gives 60% commissions? Quote
GA Russell Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 I guess the old saying applies: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I dunno. That saying can't work everytime..it's just too...wait a minute... Quote
Claude Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 (edited) Already the layout of the website and the lack of technical info make this look fishy. Distributing high quality TV signals via internet connection needs certain technical requirements, it can't be done just by installing a software and connecting to a website. As far as the legality goes, if this service would indeed transmit TV signals, the provider would need the authorisation of the TV stations. But the software only seems to provide links to existing web streams. Edited May 16, 2007 by Claude Quote
