White Lightning
Would have been 81 years old today.. I'll spin some of the Blackhawk set in recognition. I think that his birthday is on the 26th, but I'll spin some of his albums today nonetheless. Happy Birthday to the most beautiful Prince of Darkness of them all! bertrand
The myth of 5/25 was an error created by Leonard Feather, IIRC, and then propagated, perhaps by Feather himself. I believe it's 5/26 - I think Miles even addresses this in the beginning of his autobiography (not that that's a particularly reliable source). Bertrand. LarryCurleyMoe
Yes indeed, happy birthday Miles Dewey! I recently pulled out Dark Magus, Filmore West, and Big Fun and thought how fresh this still sounds after not listening to for some time. I also dig the cover of Big Fun when you open it flat. Miles was ONE OF A KIND!

Thanks anyway, man, and tell that m*&%#^@#*ing nephew of mine to cut out the bulls*&$ and get that ON THE CORNER set into the shops by Christmas. Bad-ass music, sad-ass estate oversight! I wish I could come back for just one day, man, and set some of these mo&*#%#$@ers straight... I'd still like to put some hurt on those Columbia execs who wanted me to do that DR. DOOLITTLE jive, but Gil tells me they all went to hell. Ghost of Miles
sidewinder
Just spinning some of that great Filmore 'tree' from Dime in the car on the way back from the coast. A fitting way to celebrate the day - whether 25th or 26th.
