Who Is This Organist"

Strethen Davis - he's on Arnett Cobb's "Blow Arnett, Blow" (also issued as "Go Power!!"). One of the sets of liner notes on the OJC reissue refers to him as "Wild Bill Davis." Could they be the same person? I can't tell by listening... Anyone know something about this?

According to The Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz, William Strethen Davis is Wild Bill Davis' given name.

In the sense that it's not the name he normally works under, and in all probability, also not the name on the recording contract he had with (I think at the time) Everest.

Still, it's his real middle name. If Sonny Rollins recorded as "Walter Rollins", or Dexter Gordon as "Keith Gordon", would that rightly be called recording under a "pseudonym" - literally "false name"? That just doesn't seem right to me...
