Atomic in Burbank, CD Trader in Reseda. Possibly Poo-Bah's in Pasadena (though I haven't been there in years). Drop me a line if you want to hook up at Amoeba or Rockaway as they're both near me. I love Rockaway but they're past their prime; deals are good but selection is very hit or miss.

And the Tower in Hollywood if it isn't gone was pretty decent, the last time I was out there, which was about three years ago. I keep on kicking myself for not buying Hill's Eternal Spirit there. It was a leftover from the CC series, but Tower jacked up the price because they knew it was OOP.

All Towers are gone gone gone.

RDK lists most.

there are a couple of used LP stores on Pico near Barrington, especially, uh, Record trader, or Record Shopper. West LA.

Amoeba has killed most of the retailers.

Poo-Bah is still around, and although I also haven't been there in years, I saw a film the other night at the Egyptian Theatre ("Brasilintime"), and the people next to me were giving plaudits to Poo-Bah, and Poo-Bah was also given a shout out in the credits (as was Amoeba).

That place used to be my first port-of-call in LA - but I'm talking 10ish years ago or before, sadly. Bought a couple of the Miles CD sets there at good discounts (which was virtually impossible at the time in the UK) plus they always had some rare TOCJs lurking in the racks. Astonishing place, at its peak.

Right on. :tup The second to the last time I was out there, about seven years ago, it used to take me over two hours to comb through their jazz bins-it just seemed like there was no end to it. No other Tower that I've been to (perhaps only the Tower in Soho riveled it; they did have a jazz mini-lp cd bin) came nowhere close to the Hollywood Tower.

You mean the place in NYC on E.4th? They got those from the Princeton Record Exchange.

I think so. There was a McDonalds nearby, because that's where my wife and kids sat while I shopped for nearly two hours. I ended up not buying anyof them because I could basically get two other cd's for the price of a mini-lp. But I recall that they had a lot of Prestige titles more than anything else. It was still cool though that they had an endcap just loaded with them.

Sniff, sniff...tower....rest in peace....Anyone ever hit the outlet store they had, I guess in Hollywood many a year ago? I found some old RCA cut outs. I'd go to every Tower in the yellow pages when I came out this way in the 90's. I hit the one in the valley(in Canoga Park?) found my first TOM cds(The Old Masters) there. The sunset blvd store was great, there was a cool bookstore across the street from it. Just a great place to shop, cds you wouldn't see online.

So far, no cd stores yet. My elderly Uncle(87) had a bad day yesterday, breathing issues, so I may not get a chance to shop......perhaps early next week.
