On first listen, I really like it. "Radio Nowhere" is going to sound great on car radios, like "The Rising" (the song) did. Very sobering, thought provoking lyrics on the album, which beg to be paid attention to and revisited. Better music and production than 'The Rising' (the album). In addition to "Radio Nowhere", "Girls In Their Summer Clothes" really caught my ear. Good releases from Mr. and Mrs. Springsteen in recent weeks, along with good ones from John Mellencamp (I REALLY liked that one) and Rickie Lee Jones at the beginning of the year. 2007 has been a good one for the post-50 rock gang. Other thoughts ont this album from anyone who's heard it?

Sounds very 'River' (what a great single album that would have been) from the snips I've caught. Radio review I just heard commented on how political the whole of it is as one might expect.

I'm listening to "Livin' in the Future" now with it's nostalgic "Tenth Avenue" breakdown and his voice sounds surprisingly good, not as caricatured as his more recent outings - a plus.

But "Girls in Summer Clothes" ? is just so overthetop with the Pet Sounds send up - of anybody Springsteen can do a better job of incorporating hommage into a song but this one just ain't right - does the rest of it bring it around?

Will have to hear more as I'm still a 70's fan.

Bought it on Tuesday. Haven't listened to it yet, but looking forward to it (haven't listened to the discs I bought LAST WEEK yet).

You don't want to get us started on listening backlogs. I just jumped the Bruce to the top of the heap out of principle.

Haven't heard this one yet, and I'm not in any hurry to do so having lost interest back around the last ice age, but as far as I'm concerned, with bruce the poppier the better since it tends to undercut his tendency to take himself too seriously and drone on and on tunelessly...
