Duke Ellington orchestra with Rosemary Clooney reissue

I just picked up the cd really for my wife who loves Rosemary Clooney but any Duke is ok with me.

I think it's one of the Duke's loveliest albums, and one of Clooney's finest moments. The track "Blue Rose" is worth the price of admission alone, and the liner notes from the Legacy CD do a good job of detailing the behind-the-scenes work that went on to put this album together.

"Behind the scenes" is correct in more ways than one. RC did not sing with the orchestra for this date(s), her vocals being added subsequently to the orchestral tracks. For some reason I can't pin down, I can't enjoy it as much as I do when I can visualize the singer performing in real time with the musicians behind her (him).

Ummm? If you're referring to George Clooney, he's a nephew of Rosemary. George is the son of Nick Clooney, a TV journalist/anchorman. (First reading of your note made me think you believed George caused the pregnancy...)
