Well, for personal reasons I tried not to start this season. . . .

But I did.

That girl was cute, but not the finest looking contestant of all in my estimation. (Hey, I'm crazy about brunettes!)

Yeah, that was creepy, espcially when he was moving in closer and closer to Paula while singing. My favorite verse: "if I was a plumber I would caulk her"

I think it was all a lark. If Paula had experiences with crazed stalkers, she probably wouldn't have been laughing through the whole thing, she'd have gotten up and had security hustle him out the door. Plus, everyone goes through the first screening before a select few get the chance to be on TV, so they must have thought it was harmless to put him through to the "real" audition in the first place.

I really liked the "If I were Columbo, I'd Peter Falk her" line.

The girl with glitter eyes was kind of creepy too. As was the hairy guy dressed as Princess Leia. And the girl dressed as Princess Leia.

And the older guy (39?, well old by AI standards anyway) who sang his own song about not needing sex. He was creepy.

I enjoy the weedout-shows on AI... it loses my interest as it goes on to the more talented contestants almost each time.

The opposite is true for me! (Well, I'm influenced by my wife who always hated the first part of the competition, embarassing lousy singers seemed cruel to her).

Isn't that kind of going against the spirit of American Idol, if they're allowing contestants who have/had contracts in the music industry already? I thought the show was about finding "regular" people and having them become stars.

Silly Erik! The show is about getting big advertizing dollars and ;) making money for the record company any way possible!

Oops!!! I forgot! :P:w

Either way, she's shore purty. There were a couple of pretty good singers last night. Will be interesting to see what we get tonight.

There are supposed to be rules in place about what level of industry success you've had previously. The fact that she got dropped before releasing a major label album probably makes her eligible. But they weren't exactly honest about her background. She's opened for some pretty big acts like Neal McCoy, and sung the National Anthem at a bunch of venues. It does feel like she's closer to success than anyone else previously. It will be interesting to see, assuming she gets through to the final group when the public starts to vote, if that background works against her and someone who is really struggling to get noticed gets more support.

Well since you asked... ;) Favorites are Dave Cook and Brooke. Least favs (still left) are Archuleta and Carly. My girls cried tears when Ramiele was voted off a couple of weeks back.

I haven't been watching the show (I usually only watch the first few episodes each time, when the strange people are shown - that's funnier and more worthwhile than watching the "serious" later episodes, which are dragged out and boring, IMO).

But I just discovered the guy with dreadlocks is an Aggie, so I'd have to root for him, regardless whether he has any talent or not. I haven't seen him sing, so I have no idea.

My pick to be this year's winner has always been Kristy Lee Cook. Even though the judges always seem to bash her and she's usually in the bottom 3 each week. She's marketable, has a great country voice and fits the bill for the C&W crowd. She could be selling a million next year if they put her together with the right producer and record label. David "the Rocker guy" is good too, but I have a personal hesitancy about rock singers being produced and fabricated. David Archellto (?sp) is good in a sort of Disney-soundtrack-singer/teenage-Celine thing.

I watch this show every season, cause it's the only prime-time show we can watch as a family. My 9 and 12 year olds dig it and so I try and dig it too. Great band on that show.

Wow, I think you're probably RIGHT Mike, but man I dislike Christy Lee intensely. UGH.

I like Syesha. Sue me. She's going to be an actress on a tv show most likely next season. a_3549896b41e92cd449a40ceccc317743.jpg

And I think David Cook is good, he's playing their game well. They say "do something different, take a chance, be yourself" and he seems to actually find a way to do it. I thought his Lionel Ritchie and Michael Jackson bits were great.
