Shrdlu Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Nice hat, too MG Thanks, MG! I have several hats, including a shallow porkpie like Prez's. Will post them if the board is modified to accept a picture gallery, like Myspace etc. The hat in the pic was stolen by a chick in a club about three weeks ago, lol. The next week, she fessed up and I told her she could keep it if she would wear it. The girls drive me mad, wanting to wear my hats in the clubs. Two stolen so far, and a couple more were hard to grab back. Why can't people buy their own hats? Edited December 30, 2009 by Shrdlu Quote
Chalupa Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 I stumbled upon John Rudoff's photos that he took of the Philadelphia and Newport Folk Festivals circa 64-65. The colors(and the subjects) are just amazing. Dylan fans take note - probably the only known color photos of his '65 Newport appearance. http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnrudoff/sets/72157611490418013/ Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 What a difference 3 months makes... My first proper wander this year, out in the hills around Holmfirth between Sheffield and Manchester: Driving back and forth to work I'd got the impression spring was more advanced than it proved to be. Most trees only just showing signs of life up on't moors. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Thanks, Bill. I claim no photo skills, beyond selecting the scene to snap - it's all down to the camera and nature. My camera can do everything including make the tea but I still havn't got beyond the automatic stage, bar a few tricks. I had an SLR about 30 years ago that was easier to focus and get control over depth of field but I find that quite hard (my brain can't cope with remembering which way round f-stops go!). It might be that my eyesight has deteriorated and so I can't make out what is being shaped in the viewfinder. On the plus side far more photos come out as I want them; and there's no longer the huge cost of film and developing and the disappointment when the snaps come back and they are rubbish. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Snapped several quick photos 25 minutes ago while driving in DC. Nary a tourist in sight at the Lincoln Memorial and the Memorial Bridge entrance. Quote

Man with the Golden Arm Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Rod, what camera are you using there? he's great! I'm in the midst of trying to buy a new camera for my wife and like the HD features on some of the newer near DSLR point and shoot models. Price and being too old to figure out a big SLRs the main reason I'm not going there. It's the Lumix FZ35. I bought this for my wife because she didn't like the heavy weight and complexity of my Pentax SLR. She also didn't deserve having my old Sony Cybershot that came before the Pentax, so I spent a few weeks researching and went with the Lumix. It's even lighter than the old Cybershot from 2001 and, of course, the big Pentax, which is a plus for carrying around, but I'm blown away by the ease and quality of pictures taken in "Intelligent Auto" mode. If your wife isn't into constantly fiddling with it, then this is crucial. One of the most complete reviews can be found here. You can click on the "Features" link, go to almost the bottom of the page and see a more "real-life" video taken with this camera. I'm really considering this for myself (or maybe an upgraded version?) for when I go back to Linz again in a few months. The pictures of the multi-colored building that I posted above? Those were taken with the Pentax. That building is a constant light-show that I hope to be capturing with my new Lumix! Thanks for that ... I was in between the Canon SX20 IS and the Nikon P100 but conjuring Ashton Koootcher every time I zoom has me thinking otherwise. I'm going looking tomorrow so the Lumix w/ the Leica is now a candidate. And it's right in the mix of the two spec wise. Quote
