Lady Day with Percy Faith

I've just come across 2 cuts Billie Holiday recorded with Percy Faith's Orchestra on December 9 1957. (You Better Go Now and Them There Eyes.) They seem to be radio transcriptions for "The Woolworth's Jazz Hour", whatever that was. They're pretty god arrangements with Lady Day in fine form. Does anyone know anything about them?

..."The Woolworth's Jazz Hour", whatever that was...

I'd like to know that myself.

It seems that Percy Faith was the musical director of a show called The Woolworth Hour or The F.W. Woolworth Hour in 1955 - 1956 on CBS. That's all I could find out.

From the website www.billieholidaysongs.com/live_songs.htm comes:

Live Session #52 [radio broadcast] New York, 9/December/1956 Percy Faith And the Woolworth Orchestra

Unknown Band, Billie Holiday (v)

Percy Faith was a popular arranger and conductor. From 1955 to 1957 he worked as musical director for the CBS show "Woolworth Jazz Hour", where this radio broadcast took place. This is the only session she ever did with Faith. Count Basie was also in the show.

(LR 176) You Better Go Now

(LR 177) Them There Eyes
