bertrand Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 I'll be there on 5/23. The lineup is: Rene McLean Charles Tolliver Grachan Moncur III Alan Palmer Cecile McBee Jack DeJohnette Amiri Baraka Anyone else going? I'm not sure how long I'll be in NYC (I'm going up by bus). Are there any clubs that have music until late (like 3-4) except for Smalls and the Fat Cat? What record stores are worth checking out other than the Jazz Record Center? Thanks, Bertrand. Quote
sidewinder Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 What record stores are worth checking out other than the Jazz Record Center? Academy Records on the East Side and the annex over Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn are usually worth a look. Quote
kh1958 Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) I shall be arriving in New York on Friday also, but I'm not sure yet which concert I will attend that night. For late sets, Sonny Fortune is at Sweet Rhythm, and I believe there is a third set at midnight. On Saturday night, Melvin Sparks is at the Blue Note, commencing at 12:30 a.m. Edited May 22, 2008 by kh1958 Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 I am all set to see either Friday night's show or Saturday. I can't wait. Quote
bertrand Posted May 23, 2008 Author Report Posted May 23, 2008 I'll be there Friday night. I'll go for broke - Joe Chambers isn't playing anywhere after midnight, by any chance? He's moving out of NYC soon... Bertrand. Quote
