Soulstation1 Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 I had Serena winning There's a surprise. Did her butt enter the stadium less than a minute after the rest of her did? It looks like she has lost some weight. once serena retires she is gonna be SUPER THICK Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 What did I say? And isn't it good to know that Wimbledon requires its champion to play out the fifth set? I wonder when they'll run out of daylight or if the rains will return. Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 I cannot recall being this much on the edge of my seat during a tennis match since ... well between the Borg-McEnroe "Battle of 18-16", and maybe the last time Pete won it. But this is even more intense. Quote
Van Basten II Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Have they thought about declaring them co-winners. Seriously , this is one hell of a final. Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Congratulations for doing what I said he wouldn't/couldn't. Anything else would be regarded as sour grapes so I'll refrain from commenting on his blatant disregard of the 25 second rule or his ugly forehand. Oops, I guess I did comment. Seriously, I respect his speed and athleticism. I hate his game which is as close to classic tennis strokes as my own. He just makes them work for him. Quote
Willard Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 (edited) At last Rafael Nadal defeats Roger Federer by three sets to two in a close match to take the Wimbledon men's tennis title for the first time. Edited July 6, 2008 by Willard Quote
sidewinder Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 (edited) Incredible game - the best final I've seen from Wimbledon since Bjorn Borg & McEnroe way back when. Federer put up incredible resistance ! Longest final ever I believe too. Edited July 6, 2008 by sidewinder Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Did the williams sisters win the ladies doubles? Quote
AndrewHill Posted July 6, 2008 Author Report Posted July 6, 2008 That was an AMAZING match! Congrats to Rafa who deserved this win. Quote
papsrus Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 (edited) I can't believe I fell asleep. Woke up 10 minutes ago to beach volleyball, which ... ah ... I could think of worse things to wake up to. Is the consensus that something has gone wrong with Federer's game? Or is it more the case that Nadal's game has just gotten better? Nadal destroyed him at the French, and now ended Federer's reign here. And then there was Federer's loss in the Aussie semis. Not exactly a great year for him. I noticed today (and you'd have to be sleeping not to ... heh hem) that as long as Nadal kept Federer on his backhand, he usually had the advantage. As soon as he fed him a forehand though, blamo! (Course, I have no idea what happened in the fourth and fifth sets .... ) Edited July 6, 2008 by papsrus Quote
