Durium Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 NEDLY ELSTAK Nedly Elstak is one of those musicians, active in the Dutch jazz scene in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, who is now almost forgotten. Almost .........., but thanks to a great compilation record, released by the Dutch Jazz Archive (NJA 0102) some years ago, his musical heritage is available for everybody who is anxious to learn how he sounded. clifford_thornton Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Wow, thanks for this Durium. I love Nedly Elstak - have his ESP vinyl as well as some material with Loevendie. His CORECO records look pretty interesting but I've never heard them. There's one with Glenn Spearman that looks particularly heavy, called Incident. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Are Durium and I the only Nedly Elstak fans on this board?! Quote

AndrewHill Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Are Durium and I the only Nedly Elstak fans on this board?! Honestly, I've never heard of Elstak. I had to research the ESP album you were talking about, and it appears to be available for download. Cool cover! So is Elstak a freer kind of player or more inside-outside? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Inside-outside context, free player. Quote
