Hey - anybody heard this?

Dick Van Der Capellen (b) Trio - The Present is Past - Relax

w/ Martin van Duynhoven (d), Chris Hinze (fl, pno) and Theo Loevendie (bcl - one track only)

Dick vdc is a great bass player and Duynhoven and Loevendie usually get my juices going, but is Hinze someone that should best be ignored, even at an early stage?

Thanks.

Why this?

Out of sheer curiosity and slightly off-topic:

I've never been into free jazz at all so have never explored his records but judging from what one still sees in vinyl bins (secondhand record stores or record fairs) he seems to have been such a prolific recording person that his records tend to drown out a lot of other stuff that one hops to find in "Jazz" bins.

So is there actually a consensus (or widespread opinion) that he should be ignored?

During the mid 1960s, some Dutch (radio)producers promoted Van der Cappelen and Hinze as examples of "responsible avant garde" ("modern yet civilized"). Both were even invited to play with Cecil Taylor when he visited the Netherlands in 1967 and made radio recordings with Dutch musicians (the others in that group were Breuker and Bennink). Soon after, Hinze turned to muzak and Van der Capellen (whose roots were in bebop) disappeared from the scene.
