Niko Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7763991 edit: found some info here: http://www.worldsrecords.com/cgi-bin/store...mp;phrase=63348 so it might include this entry from noal cohen's discography... Date: February 9, 1965 Location: Half Note, NY Label: [private recording] Lucky Thompson (ldr), Lucky Thompson (ss, ts), Paul Neves (p), George Tucker (b), Oliver Jackson (d) a. The World Awakes (Lucky Thompson) b. What's New (Bob Haggart, Johnny Burke) c. Lady Bird (Tadd Dameron) d. Strike Up the Band (George Gershwin, Ira Gershwin) All titles unissued. The only reference found to this session is in the Bruyninckx discography where it is designated a "private recording." Alan Grant is indicated as the mc. Track a is called "The World Waits" but I strongly suspect it is really Thompson's composition "The World Awakes." Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) This is another project I worked on. If I'm lucky I will locate the players and tunes. The concert is by an interesting band. The session Niko lists is correct for the club date, IIRC. The concert band included Dave Burns, Cecil Payne, Benny Powell, Hank Jones, Richard Davis and a drummer I can't recall. tunes are: 1. Theme 2. The World Awakes 3. Minuet In Blues 4. Twas Yesterday 5. Firebug 6. Theme The unedited material times 40:05 for the concert and 45:04 for the broadcast. Edited November 12, 2008 by Chuck Nessa Quote
