Big Al Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I keep hoping I'll run into the following titles again, since I foolishly passed them up the last time I saw them: Dale's Wail (Verve 2-LP set) - Roy Eldridge The Complete Fats Waller, Volume 3 (Bluebird 2-LP set) FWIW, if anyone has either of these and wants to trade them, I've got the Sonny Rollins Quartets Bluebird 2-LP I'd gladly trade, or just let me know how much you want for them (no more than $10 each, I hope). Post your wish list here. Maybe other Board members could be on the look for them or run across them. I plan on updating this post on a regular basis. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Other than the Michael Cosmic LP and Heliopolis, what else is there? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 In rock, everything I had minus the fifty or so I've found since the Great Toilet Bowl Flood of '92 wiped out my collection. In jazz, everything there is minus the fifteen or so LPs I've bought from Paul Secor... Quote

For Fats Waller, the 1960s era RCA Vintage series LPs are a better choice--amazing sound on those RCA Vintage LPs (not limited to Fats). Quote

For Fats Waller, the 1960s era RCA Vintage series LPs are a better choice--amazing sound on those RCA Vintage LPs (not limited to Fats). Never heard of these. Do tell! The three that I have (all great) are: Sidney Bechet--Bechet of New Orleans (LPV-510) (1965) Fats Waller--Fractious Fingering (LPV-537) (1967) Jelly Roll Morton--Mr. Jelly Lord (LPV-546) (1967) I don't have a complete list of the series (at least 46 LPs), but it started at LPV-501, with Coleman Hawkins. There are others by Fats, Jelly Roll, Duke Ellington, Benny Moten, King Oliver, Jack Teagarden. All three I have are pre-Dynaflex, heavy vinyl; two are deep grooves. This might be the best sounding series of vintage jazz releases I've run across. In the upper left hand side of the front cover, it says "Vintage Series" with grapes underneath. Stonewall15 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 I am looking for an LP titled "Jazz at ANA". This is a live 1958 concert by Howard Rumsey and his Jazz All-Stars at the Army and Navy Academy in Los Angeles. Scott LaFaro (bass) was also part of this session.
