brownie Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 A giant exhibition on Miles Davis opened this week at the Paris Cité de la Musique. Definitely worth a visit! The 'We Want Miles' show was organized by Vincent Bessières who contributed to this forum several years ago! We Want Miles The exhibition runs until January 17, 2010. Quote
king ubu Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 This looks great! Guess I won't make it to Paris in time, alas... Just skipped through the press release... those photos for "You're Under Arrest" are amazingly ugly... I think the main reason I don't like that album as much as most other of Miles' 80s albums is that disgusting cover shot. It's not the fact that he carries a gun - looks like a silly toy anyway - but the whole combination of red, black, leather... yuck! Quote
Michael Weiss Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Look forward to seeing this in December. Worth seeing for the handwritten manuscript alone. Almost everything else save for a couple of photos seem to be available elsewhere already. Quote
bertrand Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 What do we know about the manuscripts? Bertrand. Quote
brownie Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 The 'We Want Miles' exhibition closed on Sunday night. It was a huge success. The opening hours had to be extended to accommodate the flow of visitors. More than 75,000 attended this. The exhibition will next be on view at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts from April 30 to August 29. Don't miss it if you're in the area! Quote
