But Prestige did not record the sessions. It was Chet's manager, the notorious Richard Carpenter, who sold the tapes to Prestige. The company marketed the results the same way they marketed the Miles sessions.

was checkin this out....and is this really accurate, that prestige intended to rip off the 4 album miles thing, workin cookin relaxkin, etc- w/ chetty chet chet?

Regardless of the marketing, these sessions in total consist of my favorite Chet recordings. He plays well within a hard bop context and with George Coleman on the front line, the music is excellent.

On one of the other threads I mention Kirk Lightsey's recollections of the sessions. Travelled in daily from Atlantic City with Roy Brooks (they had a gig down there) and R Carpenter apparently treated Kirk & Roy OK !
