BERIGAN Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 Man, that is sickening! It's just a crying shame what hollywood does to people. Kind of an ironic statement to make, seeing that you started this thread pointing out that Murphy was "not a classic beauty" and "used to be a bit chunky." Is it Hollywood that overemphasizes a woman's physical appearance over what's in her heart and her mind, or is Hollywood just giving us what we want? Well, when I said she was not a classic beauty, it had nothing to do with weight, I should have added I found her cute. Back before she got rail thin. She was quite a bit heavier in Clueless. Then lost weight. How much? I don't know. Looked "healthy" in other movies several years back. I also said the post you just quoted, Women aren't meant to be as thin as the images we too often see in magazines, tv, or movies. And really, who wants to see them this thin??? I imagine the Perez Hilton's of the world, and some aged gossip writers that used to be young and pretty. But not most men, not that I know of at least. I wish something like her death would help get the word out that most guys really don't want women to get rail thin. Most polls I have seen show to be true. Most likely it won't though. Quote

The rest of the world may be an uncontrollable mess to the person, but calories and weight are within complete control of the person who has this horrible mental illness. My flip thought was you want control, buy a f*cking ant farm (or get one of the endless "sim" computer games) and eat a cheeseburger now! (a double, with fries and a large shake), but unfortunately it's not that simple. It's very difficult to understand, even after reading about it in depth. Quote

I imagine the Perez Hilton's of the world, and some aged gossip writers that used to be young and pretty. But not most men, not that I know of at least. Something very similar happened to a friend of the family. She was getting remarried and was dropping weight like crazy (to the point where she became unattractively thin) and then she had some blood sugar problem (leukocytes?) and went into cardiac arrest. She was about 36. If Britney Murphy was indeed anorexic, then catching any kind of illness could definitely push her over the edge. So sad. RIP Karen Carpenter also. Quote
Shawn Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 She was in quite a few independent movies over the past few years, some of varying quality, but she was always good. They have alot of them on Netflix instant. I don't really care what the cause was, it's just sad to see someone that talented die so young. There was an extra "spark" to her performances that set her apart from the pack, she'll be missed. Quote

JohnS Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) I remember her particularly from Spun and as the voice of Luanne. Whatever the circumstances it's a tragedy. Edited December 26, 2009 by JohnS Quote

Van Basten II Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Not really but this story becomes more pathetic by the minute Quote
Christiern Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 So now two people I never before heard of have died—what is this world coming to? Conrad, do you suspect a Democrat? Some damn Liberal? Keith Olberman? The French UN delegation? Nancy Pelosi? Inquiring minds want to know. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 ...while stable minds want the politics kept in the political forum. Quote
Christiern Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 And, perhaps, the not so stable take that demarcation line to a level of absurdity? Quote
thedwork Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Did you feel the earth move? do you feel anything? a few weeks ago you belittle someone's grief on the board when they lose a cherished pet and now you make light of a human being's death. good job chuck. way to go. i hope you're surrounded by people who have more feeling than you, for your own sake. grow up. clifford_thornton Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Whether or not Monjack was a douchebag, the loss of his wife clearly had its consequences on his physical well-being. Not the first time such a thing has happened. Like I have said previously, I had a genuine fondness for Ms. Murphy and her work, and was saddened to hear of her death. RIP to both of them. Quote
