i just heard a new, to me, saxophonist, andy laster.

his thing seems to be a very adventurous, but very elegant chamber jazz.

most of that type of music quickly falls flat with me, but this guy seems much more interesting, with a lovely lovely tone.

does anyone know anything about andy?

Have not spun them in a while, but my memories of both POLYOGUE (Songlines, 1997) and SOFT SHELL (Knitting Factory, 2000) -- both with the always-colorful Herb Robertson, Drew Gres and Tom Rainey -- are warm.

What has Laster been up to lately?
