Problems displaying forum in IE

Here's what I am seeing right now and it is like this on all my machines.

Mine's okay in the latest IE. Try compatability in the tools menu.

I recommend Firefox - a free download. as you probably know.

It's the BMI to Internet Explorer's ASCAP, lol.

same here, have this browser at work where i can't install another one... it's ok as long as you stay in the upper part of the posting window... together with the other issues (threads are readable only until the first post from jim, joe or randy; some threads i can't read because they "kill" IE every time i open them)... it's not the only reason but it sure is one reason why i dont spend that much time here anymore...

edit to add: can't find a compatibility setting either

Well I also like Google Chrome and Firefox but IE is still my main browser for whatever reason. Increasingly though I am finding that pages which work in Firefox don't work in IE (or the other way round - a page which fails in IE is fine when I try it in Firefox). Maye some developers are so anti-microsoft they just don't bother with IE? In any case, yeah I can try fiddling with the compatibility settings... if I can find them...

Thanks - I'll try it - though the version I am on now doesn't even have that switch!

Edited to add: updated it, tried it, fixed it. Now to fix my other machines...

Despite the fact that the solution has been posted several times in various threads in this forum since Jim upgraded the board, the same problem is posted over and over again. Maybe the solution should be pinned in "Forums Discussion".

I contacted Jim directly - even knoing that there was an answer out there somewhere - because the problem was so bad on my computer, I couldn't read ANY of Jim's posts (something in his footer) or about 80% of the threads on the board. I knew that a direct contact would allow him to reply in a readable e-mail.

So yes, I always search first, especially before bothering one of our hosts.
