tkeith Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Alrighty, then... who's in? Please let me know here and let me know your desired method of listening: Download Online through a media player (a link) If you prefer a disc, it'll be a huge help if you download and burn. If you're unable, I'll cope, but you may be waiting for the disc for a bit. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Download for me, too, please Thom. MG Quote
tkeith Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 (edited) Al, preCISEly what I thought when I saw the message asking about where the BFT was! It's done and uploading as I type, but Comcast sucks, so it's been a slow process. For giggles and laughs, here is the link to the Blindfold Tests page on my website. Just navigate to the Blindfold Test 75 folder in the player, click, and you can play the tracks. Or, if you're not impatient, you can download it here (hopefully by 7PM GMT-5). Man, I listened to this, and I have to say I'm diggin' it. I didn't intentionally make it difficult, but there are definitely some that will be tough to get. A few obscurities, a few obvious ones, and hopefully stuff that makes your ears smile. Enjoy! Edited May 5, 2010 by Thom Keith Quote
tkeith Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 Is the download GTG now? Should be, Jim. I was able to download it, but I haven't unzipped it and verified it. Quote
JSngry Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 DL-ed (often at a speed > 20 Kb/sec, so nice server!) & uh....not all the tags have been removed from all the files...you might wanna pull this one & put up a v2...and I'll play fair w/what I got. Quote

tkeith Posted May 6, 2010 Author Report Posted May 6, 2010 Jim, can you PM me with what information you saw? I've checked the files by looking at their info, checked the id3 tags in iTunes and downloaded a tag editor, and I'm only seeing the generic information I put in there. Quote
Hot Ptah Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) Thom, I had the same problem with the song titles showing when I did my recent BFT through ITunes. Big Al removed the tags and knows how to do it. We found that the song titles would not show up with some recipients, but many others could see all of the song titles, depending on the software that they are using. It seems to be a quirk of ITunes. Edited May 6, 2010 by Hot Ptah Quote

I'm at work now & won't be home until this evening, but what I saw after unzipping the files was artists names listed for about 4 or 5 of the tracks. No titles or album names. I didn't go thru iTunes for any of this. This was just opening the unzipped folder on my desktop. The info was inside the folder, next to the particular files, with the folder set to a "Details" view. I'm pretty sure you can select all the files in the folder & remove the tags there, at least if you're on a PC. No idea what you'd do on a Mac. Quote
tkeith Posted May 6, 2010 Author Report Posted May 6, 2010 Gah! Curse Microsoft!!!!! Big Al, can you hook a brother up and mail the zips back to me? I'll take down the zip for now. Quote
Hot Ptah Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) Gah! Curse Microsoft!!!!! Big Al, can you hook a brother up and mail the zips back to me? I'll take down the zip for now. Actually, when Big Al and I worked through this problem, my song titles did not show up on Microsoft's Media Player. It was only when forum members used different software than Microsoft that they could read all of my song titles sent through ITunes. I recall that Real Player and Rhapsody users could see all of the song titles which I sent through ITunes. Edited May 6, 2010 by Hot Ptah Quote
tkeith Posted May 6, 2010 Author Report Posted May 6, 2010 Well, until we can get those files fixed, it's available to hear online at my blindfold test site. Just click the link, then scroll down to "Blindfold Test 75", click the folder, and you can click the tracks from there. Quote
Hot Ptah Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 I have listened to BFT 75 once from Thom Keith's website,as he suggests. It is easy to do from there. This is a great collection of music. As usual, I don't know any of the songs, despite Thom's comment that he had placed some easy guesses on this BFT. I want to hear this BFT again soon! Quote

Good point, I guess "easy" is relative to taste, but I was thinking more in terms of the players. Quote
Big Al Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I can do it! Thom, please send me the link! If y'all go back and look at Hot Ptah's BFT (if you still have it), you'll note that the track titles were intentionally placed by me, in a nod to an Ornette Coleman album. I promise I won't pull that stunt on Thom's BFT. And, for the record, me seeing the answers isn't gonna affect my answers one whit! Quote
Guest Bill Barton Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Please count me "in" for a download. I'm hoping to carve out enough time to respond to this one! Quote
tkeith Posted May 9, 2010 Author Report Posted May 9, 2010 Okay, Bill. Stay tuned for a download link once we figure out the glitch with the id3 tags. <cursing microsoft as he walks away> Quote

Big Al Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Egad, did time get away from me this week (thank you, audit.... grrrr). I've dl'd the folder, changed all the mp3 tags, re-uploaded, and the link will be sent via PM to all participants. I tested these on RealPlayer and Windows MediaPlayer and got the same results (although, for some reason, Windows MP displays a picture of a canyon for some tracks. No idea why.)JSngry, your link will be e-mailed to you. Quote
