sonnymax Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 I thought some of the board's beer savants would appreciate this bit of news: Mass. Man Accused Of Trying To Swap Baby For Beers by The Associated Press CHICOPEE, Mass. May 18, 2010, 08:06 am ET Authorities say a Massachusetts man offered to give his 3-month-old daughter to a maintenance man outside a gas station convenience store in exchange for a pair of 40-ounce beers. Chicopee police say 24-year-old Matthew Brace of Northampton made the offer on Monday. The maintenance man called police, who found Brace hiding with the girl behind a trash container. State child welfare officials took the baby into custody. Police say Brace was not arrested but will be summoned to court to face a charge of reckless endangerment of a child. A phone number for him could not immediately be found. The child's mother was in the store at the time buying cigarettes. She has not been charged. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 That's the problem with Massachusetts....and the reason I left. They never give you enough to buy smokes plus beer. "The infant's mother, 31-year-old Wendy Arsenault, was inside the Pride store at the time. The maintenance man called police who found the couple at the nearby Econo Lodge where they are living on public assistance." http://www.wlfi.com/dpps/news/strange/cops-say-man-tries-to-trade-baby-for-beer-jgr_3365212 Quote

BERIGAN Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Certainly a low point in this guy's day. Not as low as his daughter's. Exactly! So, he wasn't arrested, not a serious enough crime??? And what's really sad is they will put this baby back with these two assholes in very short order. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 My first reaction to the headline of the topic is "no thanks, I'll keep the beer". Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 If someone said "Hey, I'll swap my baby for a beer", I'd have to check her out. Quote
