Stings new drummer

Or even before, I remember twenty years ago seeing him on film shouting at a music video director and cameraman to "Keep the camera ON THE MONEY"!

I saw the performance. My big impression was typical Sting lyrics and a big bass synth emphasis. . . . Didn't even NOTICE the drummer.

According to Google:

Drummer Keith Carlock, just off tour with Steely Dan, will be joining Sting

on his upcoming tour... [i believe I read somewhere that Keith was the first

drummer to play on every track of a Dan album (Everything Must Go), but don't

quote me on that...]

Keith has a new mailing list and which folks can sign up for and get the

latest tour dates, stories from the road, info for drummers, Q/A, etc.

It's a low-volume list, only updated when there's something cool to report...

He'll be opening a website later this year too, with lots of audio, video &

images.  [if you sign up for the list, you'll get a note when the site opens.]

Stewart was playing with Trey Anastasio from Phish and Les Claypool from Primus in a shortlived band called Oysterhead. They were fun in small doses, but it was a classic three bigger than life egos style collaboration...

I think it was only destined to be a one off. Anastasio was on hiatus from Phish at the time and Les was in the throes of his Flying Frog Brigade days. Now that Les is back doing Primus full time, and Trey is back doing Phish part time and maintaining a solo career doesn't leave much hope for further collaborations.

I saw Oysterhead in LA a few years back and it was such a treat standing as far away from Les and Trey (two of my idols!) as they were standing from each other and having Stewart just a few more yards back.

Glad to see Stewart not doing the Doors thing though, probably a pretty nice earner for him all the same.
