AllenLowe Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) I'm putting this in miscellaneous music because this may be answered by someone on either side of the aisle - and because it's been about 20 years since I seriously tried to book my band. I have full promo material - electronic press kit, MP3s, CDRs, hookers, etc. when submitting booking info to clubs, fests, etc, here in the 21st century, what do booking people look for and expect? Sound samples? Pics of simulated sacrifice? Cute Cats? Endorsements from Clergy? thanks - Edited October 25, 2010 by AllenLowe Quote
JSngry Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Send a flash drive w/everything on it, including video. Quote
AllenLowe Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) thanks, and interesting, because I would not have thought of that - is email never used? Edited October 25, 2010 by AllenLowe Quote
JSngry Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Email is always used, but if you're wanting to be "with the times" be ready to text at least as much as you email. Quote
david weiss Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 E-Mail, EPK and yousendit or some version of that. E-Mail a yousendit link and then they can download your press kit and music with one click of the mouse. A nice introductory letter with some of your accolades to get them interested in clicking on the link might help. Not to state the obvious but soliciting gigs is not fun. Quote
JSngry Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 And sometimes getting them is even less fun... Quote
AllenLowe Posted October 26, 2010 Author Report Posted October 26, 2010 yeah, I tend to agree - it's just we've got something interesting going here and I'm hoping to pick up an adventurous presenter or two and maybe things like Ear Shot. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 (edited) How about having a web site showcasing your band? Have everything on the website that the press kit would have. It may be easier for club owers to just go to a web site. Edited October 26, 2010 by Hardbopjazz Quote

Quincy Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Send a flash drive w/everything on it, including video. Nice idea except that the more cautious places would be afraid to look at it. Too many viruses & nasty things get spread by these critters. Quote
AllenLowe Posted October 26, 2010 Author Report Posted October 26, 2010 1) yes, an working on the web site as we speak - updating and re-designing. 2) actually I like the idea of sending infected flash drives to whomever fails to book the band - Quote
.:.impossible Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Let me know if you are coming as far south as Richmond, VA. I can get you booked and turn out a large crowd. Lots of interesting and well-known folks coming through these days. Quote
