slide_advantage_redoux
He will be missed! I will never forget the MNF bantering between him and the blustery Howard Cosell. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101206/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_obit_meredith
paul secor
Monday Night Football was never the same after he left. RIP, Mr. Meredith.
Dan Gould
Sad news; I only knew him for his warbling and for holding a glass of tea while he fell into a pool but reading the obit gives an appreciation for what he did on the field before he went into the booth. jlhoots
He was ill for a while. Lived many years here in Santa Fe. Used to see him out & about a lot until his pulmonary problems increased. R.I.P.
MartyJazz
He was a very funny guy. I recall a time when Gifford told a story about when Kathie Lee had told him that she was expecting. A short period of silence, then Meredith says, "Don't you worry, Frank, we're gonna catch that SOB who did this to her". Gifford really liked Dandy. Dave James
If he never did anything other than turning Howard Cosell into a pin cushion on Monday Night Football, he would still be well thought of. That he did so much more, including some passable acting, just made him all that much more interesting. Dandy Don. R.I.P.
Chalupa
The only Dallas Cowboy I ever liked. RIP.
JSngry
A true folk hero. That he settled in NM rather than TX says a lot to & for those who know what to listen for. God bless ya', Don. You done good.
papsrus
A life well-lived. RIP.
Tim McG
Dandy Don made MNF fun to watch. A perfect foil for Howard Cosell's arrogance and straight man Frank Gifford. "Turn out the lights the party's over..." RIP, Mr. Meredith. Edited December 7, 2010 by GoodSpeak
John L
A very good athlete and extremely entertaining announcer-public figure. RIP
Jazzmoose
The only Dallas Cowboy I ever liked. RIP. Yeah, that sums it up for me. The first pro football game I ever watched was the Ice Bowl with Meredith's Cowboys against the Packers. Of course, I was only 9, so he seemed like an old man then to me! slide_advantage_redoux
Yeah, the ice bowl was the first game I really can say I remember watching. One year my dad went to an auto dealership promotional thing, and he brought home a signed B&W of Chuck Howley. At the time I thought how square the guy looked, what with that crew cut hair. Later I realized what a great athlete he was too.
