Teasing the Korean Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 What period is this stuff from? I really don't care for his later stuff at all (at least the stuff I've heard). Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Definitely curious. Anyone here pre-order the CD?? I'm sure thinking about it... More info here: Ryan Truesdell bio Quote
JSngry Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 What period is this stuff from? I really don't care for his later stuff at all (at least the stuff I've heard). The video mentions at least one Thornhill-era chart, as well as some things done for Astrud Gilberto. Also some "newly discovered compositions", whatever that means. Definitely curious. Anyone here pre-order the CD?? I'm sure thinking about it... More info here: Ryan Truesdell bio It's not due until 2012, but I can tell you that ArtistShare is big on providing "progress updates" on their projects, so pre-ordering now makes sense if you want that. Teasing the Korean Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 I think that the Astrud Gilberto-Gil Evans pairing is one of the most bizarre ever. That album simply does not work. Quote
JSngry Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 The ablum doesn't work particularly well, no, but at least in part because it's not a full-fledged collaboration. Gil's work is only heard on some tunes. It doesn't really flow. I'd like to hear what he wrote for the project that wasn't used. I suspect it might have presented too steep a challenge for Astrud. Rooster_Ties Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 How much was shipping (assuming you pre-ordered a CD)? Quote
