bertrand Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Supposedly the 2001 Canadian documentary on Dewey Redman is out on DVD. Both Amazon and CD Universe show it as unavailable, and I tried ordering through Barnes And Noble (who still list it) but they cancelled the order. Has anyone been able to track this down? Thanks, Bertrand. Quote

.:.impossible Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 I feel like I've seen this on vimeo before. I'll have to look around this weekend. I've seen something somewhere! Either way, I'd love to have this DVD. Quote
thedwork Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 yep. i also thought this was very enjoyable. and a nice tribute to the man. good interviews, concert footage, etc... low budget production values on the project but, for me, that doesn't detract from the vibe of the film. "I don't know man. I mean... Elton John bankrupt. Come on. Shit. Gimme a break. That is really ridiculous." "Music is mysterious always. I don't really know what music is... other than a sound." the impression i'm left w/ after watching this is that dewey was a rare and egoless master musician who understood and appreciated how very fortunate and lucky he was to be able to do what he did for a living. a truly self-aware and insightful man. i guess bertrand isn't interested in this anymore? or maybe this isn't the film he was looking for... bertrand Posted June 23, 2011 Author Report Posted June 23, 2011 No, definitely still want to get this, just haven't had time to follow up on it. Thanks for the link. Bertrand. Quote
bertrand Posted August 15, 2011 Author Report Posted August 15, 2011 OK, I just ordered it from original spin media since no one else had it. Those of you who got it this way as well, since it's coming from Canada, did you have to pay customs? Thanks, Bertrand. Quote
.:.impossible Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 After watching Imagine The Sound via iTunes, I would love to see this documentary made available there as well. So easy. Quote

I do not recall paying any customes, but I think I may have purchased a digital download. I will try to check to confirm. Either way Quote
