GA Russell Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Somehow yesterday my Firefox browser picked up the Bing toolbar which I definitely don't want. I tried to eliminate it, and so far nothing has worked, clicking on the toolbar dropdown. I clicked on the Menu Toolbar, and now it has disappeared. I can't imagine living without that. How do I get it back? Quote
Neal Pomea Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Try this. At the top click View then Toolbars. Check Menu Bar if it is not checked. I have these checked: Menu Bar, Navigation Toolbar, Bookmarks Toolbar. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Hover just below the minimize button (up in the top right of the screen near the red X for "close") and click the right mouse button. You should get a menu with "Menu Bar" in it. Click that and the menu bar will show back up. To get rid of that Bing toolbar, check that it isn't an add-on (under Tools>Add-ons). Try this. At the top click View then Toolbars. Unfortunately, his menu bar, the place where it says "View", is hidden. Quote
GA Russell Posted June 22, 2011 Author Report Posted June 22, 2011 Kevin, that worked for the menu toolbar! Thanks! Unfortunately, the Bing toolbar doesn't seem to be one of the add-ons. Any other ideas? Quote
jostber Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 There is a tip on Bing removal here: http://www.ehow.com/how_5196325_remove-firefox-work-way-used.html Quote
GA Russell Posted June 22, 2011 Author Report Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) Thanks jostber, but that didn't do the trick. Apparently your link provides instructions for making Google the default search engine, but is not relevant to the Bing toolbar I would like to remove. OK, I got it! The Bing toolbar was listed as "Search toolbar" in my View dropdown. After I screwed things up by making the menu toolbar disappear, I was a little reluctant to plunge forward and try the Search Toolbar, but after all this I did, and it worked. Thanks again, everybody! Edited June 22, 2011 by GA Russell Quote
tranemonk Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 You probably need to go into Add-Remove Programs... That is typically how you should get rid of it. Quote
