  1. Paul Desmond Mosaic ... I could listen to this for eons...
  2. Without even searching through this thread... the first one (who I know has been brought up), is Lee Konitz. I miss him a lot. Managed to see him maybe 2x before he passed away. He left us a great recorded legacy although I wish there was some unreleased Lee to come out.
  3. What do you mean by "non-musical past times?" Someone else made a similar reference to this and I have no idea what the backstory is.
  4. Wish I could be there... I've been a big fan of hers for years but have never been able to see her live. Enjoy the show!
  5. For some very odd reason, I just got an itching to listen to him more. Does anyone have this? Worth it? Looking around it seems there might be some smaller box sets of his work. And I have a stupid related question... Given his output, why didn't he do the Bond movie soundtracks? I mean I know the opening songs often got high profile pop stars (e.g., Billie Eilish, Shirley Massey, Sheena Easton, etc.) but it would have been an interesting mix. Thanks.
  6. Do you have everything backed up? Apple should be able to walk you through a password reset via the phone.
  7. It is the rebranded Celebrity Series. Although I have appreciated their jazz programming almost all of the events are overpriced. I'm going to the Kris Davis Trio tonight in Cambridge. I don't know the backstory about the change but I've been a bit disappointed with their jazz events over the last few years.
  8. I'm just wondering why there's never been a box set of this group?
  9. Caught Christian McBride and Usra Major last night. Was okay. Not great. Nicole Glover was interesting. Not what I expected.
  10. Okay my bad... I hate autocorrect .. esp when it doesn't work.
  11. Thanks so much! Great sound samples. I'm totally in!
  12. Anybody got any info/insight on this? Thanks. https://www.jazzmusicarchives.com/album/carla-bley/joyful-noise-live-in-hamburg-1984(live)
  13. Hey all.. came across these being listed on Bandcamp and a few other places. I thought I'd share the info. I ordered a copy of the Jamal, Lateef and Henderson on importcds (a little cheaper). The Petrucciani (frustratingly) appears to only be a European release. Any thoughts about any of these? https://yuseflateeflive.bandcamp.com/album/alight-upon-the-lake-live-at-the-jazz-showcase https://ahmadjamallive.bandcamp.com/album/at-the-jazz-showcase-live-in-chicago https://joehendersonlive.bandcamp.com/album/consonance-live-at-the-jazz-showcase https://malwaldronlive.bandcamp.com/album/stardust-starlight-live-at-the-jazz-showcase https://www.elemental-music.com/jazz-treasures/4942--michel-petrucciani-kuumbwa-8435395505113.html
  14. Any place for more sound samples other than the three on Mosaic's website?
  15. This is perhaps a cynical question (or I'm just a cranky old man - or both)... but what's the likelihood of a set that is mostly composed of incomplete takes and/or mediocre sound? My concern is that we're already getting a lot hype for a fuller boxed set that's not gonna come out for six months (at least), which I'm fearful is going to be quite disappointing. Any sound samples online, somewhere?
  16. Even though I have a ton of Art... I'm very interested in this one and likely to grab it. Thoughts??? https://omnivorerecordings.com/shop/live-at-the-cellar/
  17. Guess I was a latecomer... 😉 2004
  18. I'm taking a pass on this one and instead got the Byas, in part based on the recommendations from this board. Thanks, y'all. Happy Holidays to all.
  19. Okay, I'm going to ask another stupid question... Just out of curiosity (if anyone knows), why is there no Ellington on this set?
  20. Are those public domain? I'm assuming have all the jazz ones been released?
  21. Thanks. That's very helpful... Was Ellington the only one who did the Treasury Shows? I have all of those volumes and really like them.
  22. Kind of/maybe a stupid question... but were V-disc sessions all limited by the 3-minute recording windows (of the LP/tech at the time)? I have all the Storyville Ellington Treasury Shows (what was the relationship between the Treasury Shows and V-Discs?), and I vaguely remember that quite a few of those tracks were longer. I'm a bit on the fence with this set... Recording lengths might help. I know the discography will be up when it's ready for preorder, but I'm kinda curious.
  23. Is it my imagination, or is this a new re-issue? https://milesdavisstore.com/products/the-complete-plugged-nickel-live-1965-8-cd-box-set
  24. This is a really good record. First CD I have of this guy. I'll have to check out some more.
