I was away from the Board for a while and so may have forgotten some basic technical matters, but I simply can't figure out how to copy a photo from another source and paste it into a post. I used to do it all the time, but can't get it to work no. I usually just get the jpg address. I've been using the "Attach JPG" function. I also switched to a Mac; does that have anything to do with it? Anyway, I ran a search in the Help forums and came up with nothing. If someone could either tell me what the problem or the solution is, or point me to a thread where this has been discussed, I'd really appreciate it.

To attach an image it has to be on your hard drive and fit the size limitation.

If its an image from a website, get the URL of the image and copy/paste into the box that pops up after clicking on the photo icon. I'm not sure how that's done from a Mac.

It's done identically on a Mac. What sort of error message (or unexpected result) do you get?

I download the jpg to I Photo, then try to copy and paste into the post. But i only get the jpg address. I've never had this problem beforemellow.gif

The references to "another source", "downloading", and ".jpg address" make is sound like you're talking about a photo you found online. Is that the case?

Yes. I'm thinking mostly of album covers from online sources. I know some online sources can't be used because they have the wrong file extension (I think Amazon falls in this category).

As Dan said, copy the image address (url), and paste it into the box that pops up when you click on this icon:

picture.png

To copy the address using a Mac, hold down the "control" key, click and hold, and select either "Copy image URL" (that's easiest, if the option is available), or "Open image in new tab (or new window)" from the menu. When you open an image in a new tab or new window, you can then copy the url from the browser address bar in that tab or window.

On a Mac:

Right click on the image

Move your cursor down to COPY IMAGE ADDRESS

Click on the picture icon above the reply box

av-91.jpg

Paste the image address in the address box (left click on the "blue http://" and move your cursor to paste and click)

Also you can paste on a Mac by holding down the Command key (the the key with the Apple logo on it next to the space bar) and punch the letter "v" at the same time.

Command + A to select all

Command + C to Copy

Command + V to paste

OK, this is not going to be easy, I see. When I insert the image address in the Insert Image box, then click Insert Image command, all I get is a little blue box with a question mark.
