Hardbopjazz Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) I have an album from the 80s by Sonny Stitt called Meeting of the Minds with Art Blakey. It is with Art Blakey. I can't find any refference to this album. Could it have be originally released under a different title. I am sure my copy is a reissue. I just picked this up for $1.99. Some little pops but the record is pretty clean. The date on the back says 1982. I can't believe there isn't too much information on the record. I found this on allmusic. There is no information, but I am sure it is the same session. My album tells me shit. I want to know the year it was recorded. album The album opens with Blues March. Hardbopjazz Posted August 20, 2011 Author Report Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) Thanks Chuck. So what I just bought must have been reissue. The set list matches but the cover on mine is all black and "Meeting of the Minds." WTF. Edited August 20, 2011 by Hardbopjazz Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Is it on Gazell? If so, it's not a boot - just a reissue. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted August 20, 2011 Author Report Posted August 20, 2011 Odd it has a different title than the original. I've seen that before. It does say Gazell. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Gazell was a label operated by Sam Charters. He reissued a number of Sonet titles. Quote
king ubu Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Charters also wrote liners for the ten Universal reissues (one of them pictured in post #3). Too bad there weren't more to follow! Quote
John L Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 I thought that this thread was going to be about the great Four Tops album. Quote
