DiRubbo's duo album with Larry Willis, Four Hands, One Heart, is one of my favorite albums of the year. I also enjoyed Chronos, which is an organ date.

I saw him in January of this year, sitting in for a couple of songs in a group led by Jamire Williams and noticed him immediately. I only have one of his leader recordings, New York Accent: Live at the Kitano, which I do like.

DiRubbo performs in my area relatively frequently and I have heard him live a number of times. Heavily influenced by Jackie Mclean, who he studied with, but is moving beyond that influence nicely these days. He performs/records with trombonist Steve Davis frequently and I have also enjoy his two Posi-Tone releases. The previously mentioned duo album with Larry Willis is also a subtle joy to hear.

I have or had one of his albums. Seemed ok. However, I do have a recollection (could be wrong) that it wasn't viewed all that positively when it came out.
