Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers did an album of the music from the film "Golden Boy." The album was called "Selections from the Film 'Golden Boy.' Cedar Walton is on piano. Is this the first recording with Cedar as a Jazz Messenger?

No, the first recording session with Cedar Walton was on October 2, 1961. It was released as Mosaic (Blue Note 4090). Golden Boy (Colpix) was recorded in 1963.

Walton was also present on the Blakey/Messengers albums Buhaina's Delight (1961, Blue Note), Three Blind Mice (1962, United Artists), Caravan (1962, Riverside), Ugetsu (1963, Riverside), Free for All (1964, Blue Note), Kyoto (1964, Riverside) and Indestructible (1964, Blue Note).
