Dave James Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) This was on Marc Myers' JazzWax blog yesterday. I thought it was strange enough to warrant a post. Edited April 28, 2012 by Dave James Quote

robertoart Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 If you think that's weird, you should see the entire movie. Actually I've seen it. Used to have late night sessions at an old friends place at the dawn of the vcr era watching things like this and Evil Roy Slade. They were a staple of late night TV in Oz in the early eighties. I thought I was cool cause I knew the wider significance of Elvin Jones. And John Astin Quote

mikeweil Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 That's not a jazz movie, it's a Western movie ... except for Elvin's rumblings. Rename the thread "Strangest movie appearance sof jazz musicians" ... Quote
Dave James Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 He actually has a little bit of screen presence. If the drumming had not worked out for him, he might've wound up playing the poor man's John Shaft. Quote
marcello Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Here's a interview with Earl Palmer Earl talks about Elvin Jones' solo in the movie "Zacharias" and how they lost the sound, so the producers called in Earl to overdub it. So what you see is Elvin, but what you hear is Earl. Edited April 28, 2012 by marcello Quote
