Guy Berger Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Reading these blindfold tests makes me grateful that Miles's taste in creating in his own music was far, far better than that in judging the music of others. Quote
cih Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) I love that version of Caravan (though I played it too many times and never want to hear it again) Edited July 18, 2012 by cih Quote
BERIGAN Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 My favorite Miles BFT comment is on this one: http://www.forghieri.net/jazz/blind/Davis_2.html Re: Buddy Colette, he says: "all those white tenor players sound alike to me" + two more http://www.forghieri.net/jazz/blind/Davis_1.html http://www.forghieri.net/jazz/blind/Davis_4.html He really digs Electric Flag on the last one. Thanks for the links to the other tests... Glad to see in test 4, Leonard told him a few times he was wrong...as much as I like the BFT's, (Just read a Coltrane one on the web before looking here to see what was posted) I so wanted to hear what "they" thought after finding out they were wrong, sometimes way wrong on a test. Wonder why there weren't more after test conversations? Quote
RiRiIII Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) I like this one: "As for Gilberto, he could read a newspaper and sound good! I'll give that one five stars." Edited February 24, 2014 by Alexandros Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Read that when it happened. At every point, Miles is right and wrong. Yes, but never in doubt! Quote
paul secor Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 When I read these blindfold tests back in the day, I felt that Miles' insecurities sometimes slipped through the arrogant mask that he wore. Quote
