This one looks very interesting: "These recordings from Martino's personal collection document the easy interplay and chemistry that he had forged with rhythm guitarist Bobby Rose on their first duet tour during the summer of 1977. Both men were at the very peak of their powers during these years and we are fortunate to have these superb performances preserved for posterity."

Look forward to this. We'll Be Together Again, another duet album with Gil Goldstein, is one of my all time favourites. I imagine this will be of the same quality. Hope Martino has more tapes from the past he will release. I've also read online somewhere an interesting recollection from Bobby Rose about how he met Martino and their subsequent collaborations. It's out there somewhere. A good read.

Just finished listening to Alone Together. Wow; very powerful. Just these two guitarists: Rose setting up a frantic pace on rhythm, and Pat more than matching him. They really use the sound of the electric guitar: it's a treble-fest. Pat's attack is sharp, biting, and nasty. These are private tapes, so some of the tracks have iffy sound quality, but the music is enhanced by that rawness. Give it a listen.

here's the Bobby Rose interview I was thinking of.

Interviews with overlooked greats abound on this site :tup

That Jake Feinberg does some wild interviews.

I haven't heard the Bob Rose interview (I remember he was doing some shows back in the 70s and 80s when I used to do them), but thanks for the link.

I just spent an hour and 23 minutes listening to the John Wilmeth interview. He was a fellow NYC music teacher until Bloomberg closed his high school TWICE, and then he decided to retire. Here's a guy who played with Mike Nock, Michael Bloomfield, Al Haig, Billy Harper, Woody Shaw, Jerry Garcia, Bobby Hutcherson, and countless others, and they were making him teach three Art classes. :o Bloomberg has single-handedly destroyed the NYC school system.

It's amazing what happens when you get white people scared enough to re-elect the thirteenth wealthiest man in the world three times.
