The Magnificent Goldberg Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 I keep getting Carl Davis mixed up with Roquel 'Billy' Davis, who was Berry Gordy's original partner (co-writer of 'Lonely teardrops' etc), but who left to go to Chess. Shame there wasn't a photo of him. He also produced Young-Holt Unlimited for Brunswick (Carl, that is). MG Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 He was, indeed, involved in a lot of v. good stuffs. but like so much stauffs it was a colaborative effort, but bless him for his large part in it. Quote

Thank you for that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBsESNzecfw Aw I played my games many times before But peoples let me tell y'all, oh, I never reached the door. But oooh, the wind is high out tonight I keep lookin' back but my baby's not in sight I would like to start all over again Carl Davis might not have had anything to do with that song and that record except greenlighting it. But that's enough. Quote

But that's enough. Good song, though I always preferred the B side, 'A woman needs to be loved'. I never realised that Carl Davis started Dakar Records. MG Yes, yes. Now playing 'A woman needs to be loved' - if you added James Carr to Bobby Bland, you still couldn't get this. Quote
