StarThrower Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 Although I've never seen it mentioned, I can't be the only one to notice the conspicuous absence of Horace Sliver. Anyone know why he was not present at this historic concert? Quote
robertoart Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 It looks to me, that the concert featured a lot of people that were recording for the re-invigorated label at the time. So we get Kenny Burrell teamed with Grover Washington. Did Horace Silver release anything on the 'new' Blue Note at the time? Quote
StarThrower Posted August 13, 2012 Author Report Posted August 13, 2012 I believe he was releasing albums on his own label during that period. But he was one of the last artists recording on the old Blue Note. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 The last, actually. With arrangements by my old friend Dale Oehler, better known for playing piano on JR Monterose's "In Action". Quote
mikeweil Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 He was releasing albums on his own label, Silveto, after his tenure with Blue Note, and on Columbia and Impulse - maybe he was under contract with one of the latter two at the time that One Night With Blue Note concert was taped. Quote
