Hardbopjazz Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 I caught the first set for this concert tonight. What a stella band. It was sad seeing Bobby Hutcherson walk around with an oxygen tank. He really didn't have that much strength. He sad down a lot while playing. Gheorghe Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Too bad Joe Henderson died too early. He was one of my favourites. I saw him live on several occasions in the late 70´s. Mostly with Joanne Brackeen on piano, dont remember the bassist and the drummer, but he was fantastic. I still listen to his records almost every week. Didn´t know it would have been his 75th Birthday, but on the same evening I listened to his "Inner Urge". I´d say that´s telepathy Quote

BFrank Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 As Valerie said, I think it's "only" emphysema. When the SFJazz Center opens in January, one night of the opening week will be Spotlight: Bobby Hutcherson Birthday Celebration I have tickets already. Should be an amazing night. Quote
