Hardbopjazz Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 Wow, nearly 10k for a box of Twinkies. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hostess-Twinkies-Cream-Filled-Snack-Cakes-10-Count-Box-Delicious-Tasty-Sweet-/261130989424?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ccc9eaf70 Quote

sonnymax Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 It's for a good cause, apparently. From the auction's description: "All proceeds earned by any Hostess products sold by us will go to Toys For Tots in our area." Quote
sidewinder Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 Is that price to buy the company? Quote
JSngry Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 The company and the union have agreed to mediation. Quote
sonnymax Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 (edited) It appears that those talks have broken down, and today a bankruptcy judge is hearing the company's plans to liquidate. Funny how most reports lay the blame of Hostess's demise squarely on the bakers union, rather than the changing preferences of a more health-conscious public. Can Pork Rinds and Funyuns be far behind? Edited November 21, 2012 by sonnymax Quote
JSngry Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 If you read the fine print of the mainstream reports, besides the union, there's also the matter of antiquated, inefficient manufacturing facilities and processes. Not that that affects the bottom line or anything. But of course, it's not management's fault that that's there, is it...It's never management's fault when shit like that gets old and no longer works the way it needs to in order to remain competititve. It's always people who work for a living who ruin everything. Always. Damn you, people who work for a living! Quote
