The Magnificent Goldberg Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 I think Dawkins has been my favourite Chicago bluesman since I first heard him. Unlike most, he has a strong tendency to solo on the guitar's bottom E string; it's very dramatic. And his spelling gives Chewy a run for his money RIP Jimmy, and thanks. MG Quote
kh1958 Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 He's a favorite of mine, but I never got to hear him live. Favored recordings are these five: Blisterstring; Fast Fingers; Me, My Gitar and the Blues; Tribute to Orange; and West Side Guitar Hero. For awhile, he had Otis Rush on second guitar. Quote
Dan Gould Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 Sad news, he was unjustly neglected IMHO. Will definitely spin his Delmarks soon. Quote
