Bol
Does anyone know? I used to love picking up one or two of his releases a year -- from Blue Note and Venus. I wonder why he has stopped recording. And now that I am on the W. Coast, I no longer get to see him perform.
Kevin Bresnahan
Nobody is really recording much these days. Look at the latest new releases from... well, *any* label. Jazz, blues & classical are all suffering from this.
clifford_thornton
His last disc as a leader (piano duos w/ Renee Rosnes) was released in 2010, which isn't too long ago all things considered. Seems like he gigs regularly out east. It appears he's had some TV gigs as well. Nice work if you can get it. Steve Reynolds
Nobody is really recording much these days. Look at the latest new releases from... well, *any* label. Jazz, blues & classical are all suffering from this. Certain artists record like there is no tomorrow, certainly most jazz musicians get their music released on independent labels with results that vary wildly. Many have releases on multiple labels. Take a look, for example, at Jon Irabagon's very large discography. He is an active NY jazz musician who is much less well known than Charlap yet he is very heavily involved in recordings, gigs, etc as are many, many other jazz musicians who are rarely mentioned on this board. ValerieB
as others have said, he definitely gigs around NYC. i'm looking forward to hearing him on next year's Jazz Cruise where he will play with his trio.
