jazztrain Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Pardon me, but I couldn't resist. These were the first images that came to mind when I saw the topic title: Quote
JSngry Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I've met Shari Lewis at a local Target, and she autographed a Lambchop Angel puppet she was selling for both of my kids. Sweet-tough lady, old school show-biz all the way, you could tell, but she was a pro who made every single kid she signed for feel like they were in the only one in her world for the 15-30 second that they were. I was in line for almost an hour and watched her in action. Skills like none other. Amazing. I eat lamb as often as possible. I've been to/through Nashville an number of times too. Nice place to drive through from what I can tell. But I've never heard Matthew Shipp live. I would go to Nashville to do so, but if I can meet Shari Lewis at a local Target, I figure I can do better than drive to Nashville just to hear Matthew Shipp.I'm older now, and the kids are out of the house. Maybe he can come by some day & we can go out for some lamb. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I'm not the biggest Matthew Ship fan, at times he is invigorating to listen to, while at other times he is overbearing and ponderous at the piano (as he was during the first 30 minutes of the Dunmall quartet during last June's Vision Festival). however, on the two occasions I've seen Michael Bisio, both times I came away knowing I'd seen one of the best bassists in that world of music- the last time with Avram Fefer last fall, he was pretty damn close to unbelievable. AllenLowe Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 to me Matt can do no wrong; he's on several cuts on our new CD, if it ever gets issued. Quote
