clifford_thornton Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 UK top-loading jacket, black inner sleeves... now you're talking. Best thing for Head Man to do is find a reliable UK seller who will take that Monterose on consignment and eBay it. Maybe sidewinder has an idea. Quote
etherbored Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 i got my hands on a bainbridge copy of 'in action' (as ineligant as the coverart is as compared with the original issue...) and am thrilled. can anyone contrast it with the new reissue? Quote

Can't speak to the new issue but back then JR and I were friends. I had the record in a white paper sleeve before the covers were printed. Back in the early '90s I sold the bulk of my lps to a Japanese dealer to finance the Art Ensemble box I issued. I have the Bainbridge cd and can not imagine extra money will deliver a better experience. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Too bad the second (unreleased) session has gone missing. JR and the guys in the band raved about Out of Nowhere. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Wow. Would love to hear more from this group, should it ever turn up! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Wow. Would love to hear more from this group, should it ever turn up! It was made with a 2/3 different rhythm section - better one. In Action was made with his Cedar Rapids group and the later one with the Iowa City guys - Dale Oehler piano, John Wilmeth bass and Rusty Jones drums. Quote
