I'm quite excited that Mosaic has decided to do a Roy Eldridge Verve Mosaic, something that's been on my Mosaic wish-list for some time now. Assuming that they will be releasing only his studio sessions as a leader, I've come up with the following list of records that will probably be included:

THE ROY ELDRIDGE QUINTET

ROY ELDRIDGE COLLATES

THE STROLLING MR. ELDRIDGE

SWING GOES DIXIE

URBANE JAZZ OF ROY ELDRIDGE

LITTLE JAZZ (Clef, not later Verve compilation)

THAT WARM FEELING (w/Russell Garcia & strings)

SWINGIN' ON THE TOWN

TOUR DE FORCE

TRUMPET KINGS

ROY & DIZ (? RE is a co-leader here, but one hopes it will make the set)

ROY'S GOT RHYTHM (? EmArcy date recorded in Sweden)

ROY ELDRIDGE (? 1965 session for Metro, but I don't know if this date is owned by Universal or not)

Any others I'm leaving out?

According to the AMG site this one is missing in your list:

Dale's Wail (MGC-705) with Oscar Peterson on organ for half of the selections. Or is it a 2LP-collection from the 1952-54 Cleff/Mercury sessions?

I don't buy many comps... but two of the tracks from Dales Wail, were on the Verve Little Jazz.. the Best of the Verve Years.. and that might be it for America

There was a Spanish Verve called Dales Wail.. which had all the tracks, plus other Eldridge / Peterson tracks from 54. It had the same cover as the Verve 2LP set, but I think the album content was different.

Some of the other sets in Ghosts list have been on CDs.. Roy and Diz/ Swing Dixie etc.. but a complete set is well worth the duplication

If they put in the live sets , it would get a bit unwieldy. I would welcome an absolute Complete Roy on Verve...it would bring forth lots of "locked up" music.. but it would be huge... All those JATP sets..

I suspect it will be studio only.. and possibly items like the Eldridge/Tatum.. might not be included. I think Granz bought back back the rights to all thoose Tatum recordings.

The Metro 513 LP album was a compilation of tracks from several Roy Eldridge

Verve albums. This was released after MGM bought the Verve label in the '60s.
