Happy belated Birthday Lou Donaldson. Lou turned 88 on November 1st. Many more. The oldest living Blue Note artist.

Both Lou and Lee Konitz are scheduled to play the 2015 Portland Jazz Fest, but not on the same show (Battle of the Alto Octogenarians!) that would be tempting fate too much. Perversely perhaps, but I'd love to hear them together.

Well, would be nice to hear him again with a piano-player. The organ is cool, but I think in the last years he played only with organ players.

Is he still active ? At least I saw him live last year. Though we know from the beginning the tunes he would play, it´s always nice to see a LD-show....

Scheduled to appear at the Kennedy Center on November 14. My only previous live experience with Lou was a couple of tunes at the Blue Note 75th anniversary fest. Looking foward to it.
