Yeah, an iPad (or any tablet, for that matter) is most definitely no replacement for a desk/laptop. I know Microsoft loves to crow about their Surface Pro, and perhaps it's close enough to having a laptop, but tablets are essentially toys. They can replace your laptop if you still have a desktop, and they can replace your desktop if you still have a laptop. But, they're essentially big ass smart phones that can't make phone calls.

And from what I can see, tablets may be a suitable replacement some time down the road, but they aren't there yet.

Exactly. I don't see how a tablet can be useful at all for tasks that involve a lot of keyboard or mouse work.

Bluetooth keyboards are widespread, and you can make phone calls on an iPad.

If I understand it correctly, you're not actually making a phone call on your iPad, but through your iPad. You still need an iPhone, and both your iPhone and iPad have to be connected to the same wireless network. And yes, I believe these are FaceTime calls. The same process also works with the latest generation iPod Touch and iMac running Yosemite.

Heh, still have to go a LONG way to catch up to Wind'ohs.

I guess I haven't gotten that particular update just yet since nothing has been hijacked. I will certainly keep an eye out for it, though. Thanks for the heads up!
