I've always been curious about this one too -- especially the version of Giant Steps -- can anyone recommend?

I'd say the sound clips at the Woody Shaw site are representative.  Sound quality is not perfect, but certainly fine.  The version of Giant Steps is "only fine" in my opinion - but maybe because it's not Woody's group/etc.  I'm happy to own the CD.
