Once read; The human brain particularly likes contrasting, clashing tones. In this box the Polyphonic contrasts, the clashing, the climbing, the answering works very well.  What a surprise this is.

I have that box, too. He plays on modern pianos here, the sound is much better than on the original CDs, but not top. His approach is very good, IMO.

These are not bechmark recordings overall .... the true merit is having an excellent pianist covering Schumann`s complete euvre for piano .... btw his view on "Kreisleriana" ist top notch ....
