neveronfriday Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I seem to be unable (today ... not my day) to unearth a copy of Randy Weston's CD "Little Niles". I've stumbled over so many recommendations that I wouldn't mind picking this one up. So far, I know it's on the Mosaic set (which I do not intend to buy) and that there is a Japanese re-issue which costs an arm and a leg. All too complicated. Does anyone have a source in Europe where I could get this from? Man, this is not my day. Quote
Clunky Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 (edited) So far, I know it's on the Mosaic set (which I do not intend to buy) why not buy the mosaic, sound is excellent and it's stack full of goodies at a very reasonable price Edited February 27, 2004 by Clunky Quote
neveronfriday Posted February 27, 2004 Author Report Posted February 27, 2004 Need to keep it (reasonably) cheap. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I've never seen of a Japanese cd. . . .There is no American or European cd release outside the Mosaic Select that I am aware of. . . . Quote
robviti Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 as far as i know, you've got two choices: the mosaic and the jrvg (tocj-9475). early records has the import for 2000 yen, which is about 14.68 euros plus shipping. there's always the slim chance that someone will ebay an open copy of the jrvg, but i'd recommend you go for the mosaic too. in the end, it's a better bargain. J.A.W. Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Jazzshrink is right, the only way to get Little Niles as a single CD is to go for the Japanese reissue. It’s not available anywhere else (apart from the Mosaic, of course) Quote
neveronfriday Posted February 27, 2004 Author Report Posted February 27, 2004 WTF: I'll just go for the Mosaic. You guys are gonna kill me one day. Cheers! Quote
jazzbo Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Ray, Hans, it's a Superbit Jazz Classic right? McMaster, or RVG? Quote
jazzbo Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Deus, you'll not be sorry I think; Little Niles may not even be the best session in the Mosaic! (Others may feel it is. . .you may think so. .. I'm leaning towards the live session.) Quote
J.A.W. Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Ray, Hans, it's a Superbit Jazz Classic right? McMaster, or RVG? The Japanese reissue is an SBJC McMaster remaster. The Mosaic was remastered by Malcolm Addey. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Thanks Hans. I have the Select (and a burn of the original lp release). I can safely not go to too much trouble to track down the McMastered SBJC. Quote
J.A.W. Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I have both the Mosaic and the SBJC, and I prefer the former. Addey's a sound wizard! He must be a music lover Quote
jazzbo Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Addey has like five decades I think of experience in sound engineering. And it shows! I've been singing his praises for some time. . . and I'm not stopping now! Quote
J.A.W. Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Addey has like five decades I think of experience in sound engineering. And it shows! ...And he clearly doesn't have hearing problems Quote
jazzbo Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I can't speak to that. . .he might, and just have a good assistant! Quote
jazzbo Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 He doesn't have his polarity wires crossed though! Quote
